Hey everyone! I'm a new grower and just kicked off my journey into growing microgreens at home for myself. Recently, a friend who runs a small local meal prep business reached out and asked if I could supply her with fresh greens every week. I hadn't really thought about how to sell microgreens commercially yet, but now I'm curious. Has anyone here teamed up with meal prep services, chefs, or caterers? How do you manage pricing, supply, and delivery? I'd really appreciate any tips or experiences you could share!
That could be a great opportunity!
I used to work with a few local business before.
For pricing, I would start by calculating my costs per tray then add a reasonable profit margin.
From there, you might want to consider if you want to slightly lower your introductory price just to build relationships in the business.
You can definitely adjust later on as you gain experience and efficiency.
Always consider the market rate in your area too, like check how much the other local growers are charging.

@ath3na_says_, supply management is key!
Start small with your friend, perhaps with one or two types of greens you're confident you can grow consistently.
As you get more efficient and understand her needs, you can expand.
It's better to under-promise and over-deliver than the other way around!
This said, keep good records of your planting schedule to ensure a steady harvest!
As for delivery, it's usually pretty straightforward for local businesses.
I'd drop them off myself but I made sure to establish a consistent delivery day and that works for me and my clients.
Packaging also matters here because you have to ensure your greens are fresh, clean and well-protected during transport!
